The 2025 Greenland Crossing Expedition

What
First completed by the celebrated Arctic adventurer Fridtjof Nansen in 1888, this expedition is still an incredible achievement, albeit with the luxury of modern equipment and transport to the start of the journey. Along with the North Pole and South Pole, a Greenland Crossing is considered one of the iconic Polar Trilogy of expeditions. This historical challenge will test you both physically and mentally and push you to the extremes of the human experience. 100% of the all donations raised will go towards funding the Greenland 2025 expedition costs, and there is no monetary profit for me in this venture.
When
This expedition will take place between May 5 and June 5, 2025, with exact dates only being confirmed closer to the time due to weather and logistical reasons. In order to confirm my participation in the 2025 Greenland Crossing, I have to raise an amount of USD 3000. I will then aim to raise the balance of the funds – USD 14,500 – by the end of September this year. The planning and execution of an expedition like this require a lot of preparation time, hence the long time lines.
Where
This expedition will take place in Greenland. The expedition will start in Kangerlussuaq and end in Tasiilaq. The total distance covered will be 540 kilometers during the 25 day expedition.
How
I will be working with established logistics and operation companies to make this expedition a reality and to make sure that everything from safety to day to day logsitcs are taken care of during our month on the ice. Our planned itinerary looks something like this: After flying from Copenhagen to Kangerlussuaq, Greenland, the day is spent packing, preparing, and purchasing final supplies. The evening is marked with a celebratory dinner at a local restaurant. Final preparations are made, including mailing clean clothes to be collected on the other side, before driving to ‘Point 660’ at the foot of the icecap. Camp is set up, or if time allows, a few kilometers are covered. The first couple of days can vary depending on conditions: Bare, exposed ice may require crampons and navigating difficult terrain to reach the snow. If snow has already accumulated, skis can be used, enabling good distance in the initial days. As the lower icefall is navigated, the landscape transforms into undulating hills, which are ascended over a few days to the top of the icefall. Heading easterly towards the abandoned DYE II radar station, the terrain gradually flattens into a plateau. Upon reaching DYE II, a rest day is taken to recharge, explore the historical relic, and check equipment. Leaving DYE II, the flattest part of the expedition is traversed, covering large distances until the high point is reached. From the high point, it’s the home stretch, feeling the wind at the back, as the descent into the icefall begins, with mountains and ocean slowly coming into view. Navigating the moraines, the team eventually reaches the fjord at sea level, following the sea-ice out before being collected by boat and arriving in the village of Isortoq. After staying in Isortoq, a helicopter flight takes the team to Tasiilaq, where clean clothes are collected, showers are taken, and the delights of civilization are enjoyed. From Tasiilaq, the expedition ends, with the option to continue to Kulusuk and either Iceland or back to the west coast.
Why
I want to tell stories. I want to make you feel like you can do more. I want you to reach for your own white whale goals. I want to share profound lessons learned from the extreme of the human experience, inspiring others through stories of perseverance, resilience and unlocking our true potential.

Crossing the vast Greenland Icecap is an extraordinary test of mental and physical fortitude. This exhilarating yet unpredictable adventure demands unwavering determination amidst gruelling terrain and formidable adversaries like fierce winds, driving snow, and relentless rain.

Each challenging day requires exceptional teamwork, resilience, and adaptability as the expedition gradually ascends broad hills, reaches the highest point, then commences a descent that’s initially imperceptible yet unrelenting. As coastal mountains disappear, replaced by an endless frozen expanse, the true magnitude emerges – a vast ocean of snow to conquer step-by-step.

Maintaining positivity is paramount as the physical and mental toll mounts. Succeeding hinges on resolute persistence through ever-changing challenges that test the limits of human endurance.
