The Signs That Say: You’re Not Alone

Date: June 6, 2025

Back in March, my dog fell sick. It was one of those persistent, worrying illnesses that keeps your stomach in knots and your mind spinning with worst-case scenarios. I remember standing outside the vet waiting for our appointment, heart racing, when something soft caught my eye.

From the nearby tree, a dove ruffled its feathers. And then – just like something out of a movie – a delicate white feather drifted down. I instinctively raised my hand, palm open like an offering, and the feather landed gently in my hand.

To some, it’s just a feather. A coincidence. But for others, like my mom, feathers are signs – reminders that those we’ve lost are still close, watching over us. She’s been finding feathers ever since my uncle passed, and for a long time, I didn’t fully understand the comfort or power in that.

But lately… I’ve been noticing.

Feathers on difficult days. Seeing 11:11 on your clock. Butterflies fluttering past during busy, overwhelming moments. These little signs have become small anchors – reminders that I am not alone, even when things feel heavy.

When that feather landed in my hand, it was more than a moment. It was a message: “You’re okay. You’re being held. Just keep going.”

Maybe it sounds strange. Or maybe you’ve had your own feather moments too.

What signs have found you when you needed them most?
