Trust me, take a break from social

You are allowed to rest

Have you noticed the amount of accounts on IG that tell you to work harder?

Do more.

Less rest.

Work more.

Sleep less.

Because, if you believe these accounts and people, resting is bad.

Taking a break is bad.

You won’t win at business, life or your relationship unless you go hard 247365.

I call bullshit.

Allow me a quick anatomy and exercise reference. When you lift weights to get stronger you are damaging the muscles. You are literally creating tears in the muscle fibres while you are doing the work.

You do NOT get stronger while you are doing exercise.

You get stronger when you rest and your body repairs the micro-tears in your muscles – and protects itself by over-repairing the muscles – which then gets it ready to deal with the same stress again in the future.

I’m sure I don’t have to explain how this is the same for your body, mind and soul and THAT is why the go go go, never quit, always go harder attitude will only result in you hitting a wall.

So here it is again…constant exertion is not where you build strength.

Rest and recovery is where you build strength.

So now I’m asking you, take this weekend and do just that.

  • play
  • slow down
  • be lazy
  • laugh
  • cry
  • nap
  • listen to music
  • move
  • create
  • indulge
  • be naughty
  • share
  • sweat
  • hydrate
  • rest

Have fun.

And you know why?

Just because!

You don’t need to get to the point of exhaustion or suffering or mental fatigue to deserve a break.

Let me say it again…

You d not need to get to the point of exhaustion or suffering or mental fatigue to start taking care of yourself.

So now I’m asking you again, take this weekend and do what you need to do in order to rest and recover and to be happy.

This… is your permission to focus on you this weekend!

You’re welcome! 😊✌🏼
