Hey Gerry. I have NOT tried cold exposure. Just too cold for me. But I have read that the old theory that you should ice after injuries is no longer true, wouldn’t that apply to cold showers or baths? Anyway, not for me. But being that it’s been near 100 every day plus high humidity, a pool with water colder than bath water would be nice. Have fun in Uganda with the gorillas.
Also, are comments posted anywhere and if so, where?
Hi Mauree,
Thanks for the comment. Yeah, adding ice to injuries has been in question for a while and is, from a research point of view, still an ongoing discussion. Cold exposure, like cold shower I mentioned, isn’t aimed at fixing injuries or anything like that. It’s aimed at releasing dopamine, or increasing the baseline, without the release of cortisol. Done regularly and correctly, cold exposure like this can positively affect brain and body health. Just started this recently so update to follow. 🙂
