Time to get real with yourself

I spoke to a client yesterday and we arrived at the following point.

The biggest variable that will affect change in your life is your ability to recognise that you’re not happy.

That you need help.

That you’re desperate for change.

That you need to start doing something.

That you deserve better.

That it’s all on you!

Short version…

Your fear of, or reluctance to, get real with yourself is what’s holding you back.

Yes, it’s as simple and complicated as that.

For example, if you want to get very real with yourself and look into your dark side – which is very often where the change you’re looking for can be found – sit on the side of your bed and ask yourself…

“What am I currently doing in my life that is not in my own best interest and that’s holding me back?”

If you stop hiding from yourself and answer that question seriously, you’ll find some of the answers you need in order to start changing.

To being better.

To feeling better.

If you go through life with the belief that everything should be fair your life will be miserable.

Guaranteed!

Having an attitude that you are entitled to what’s fair, whether you actually say it or not, will get you absolutely nothing and all you’ll be doing is convincing yourself that you’re a victim rather than the result of your own choices.

You can complain and bitch and moan and complain and feel sorry for yourself but… and I seriously think that deep down you know this… your lack of being very real and very honest with yourself is what’s holding you back.

Stop blaming other people.

Stop looking for answers outside of yourself.

Stop making excuses.

Stop feeling sorry for yourself.

Sit yourself down and get real with yourself and you’ll find what you need to do in order to harden the fuck up and start affecting the change you’re so desperate for.

There is no prize for the person who feels the sorriest for themself.

There is no prize for the person who has it the hardest.

There is no prize for the person who struggles the most.

If you want to change your own life, your headspace, your level of happiness, your future… it’s all on you.

It’s time to start getting real with yourself and to have the hard conversations with yourself.

It’s scary and hard – trust me I know – but there is only upside!

If you struggle to hold yourself accountable for your actions, find someone who you can lean into to push you and hold you accountable, but please… start the process.  Start the conversation.  Talk to me if you need to.  Just do something!   Just start!

One more time… your lack of being very real and very honest with yourself is what’s holding you back.

Deep down I think you know this.
